06 Oct No Umbrella Print
Our adventure in publishing began humbly enough: we printed 600 copies of our “Reader for River People” in The Forks in 2002. We distributed these, for free, at rafting companies, local stores, restaurants and, of course, out-houses.Circulation peaked in July 2005 at 12,000 monthly copies. We have published work from over 100 outdoor enthusiasts over the years.
Now, we publish one annual edition, The No Umbrella Monster. This large issue encompasses outdoor writing from throughout the seasons and has designs to one day serve as a de facto yearbook for the Maine outdoor community.
